ACHIEVEMENTS

We have three creative brands: CEN Magazine, CEN Online and CEN Events: hence three platforms for communication. It reaches a huge audience spectrum, through the magazines readership, visitors online and celebrated events.

The magazine is a genuine voice of east London artists and creative businesses. Our loyal readers regularly look out for CEN Magazine and attend our regular CEN Events.

The magazine is distributed to almost all major venues, in east London and beyond. CEN Magazine caters for both individuals and creative businesses; CEN reaches creative businesses at all levels in their progress, from start-ups to large arts organisations, from the independent creatives to large creative corporations.

CEN Magazine is instrumental in promoting east London arts and culture. It features a wide range of content. Each issue is packed with previews, reviews, interviews, features and general information revealing the current trends. We cover: Film, Music, Art, Literature, Design, Theatre, Fashion, Photography, Creative Business Advice, Competitions, Night Out,
Arts Technology and ArtEast (listings). There are areas, which give readers the opportunity to interact by taking part in competitive sections such as ‘photo of the month.’ Our monthly comprehensive listings ArtEast brings readers up to date with what’s on in east London. The Business Support and Advice section (provided by CIDA) offers valuable advice to small creative businesses.

artists, not only do we showcase through active promotion, but we support and create projects by commissioning special features. In addition, we also support east London artists through sponsoring local artists and regular events.

EVENTS

Our quarterly photography exhibition creates an additional platform whereby photographers featured in CEN Magazines Photography section are given the opportunity to exhibit their work at local galleries. CEN Magazine organise and promote the exhibition and host the opening nights.

Our annual CEN Magazine Awards for east London based artists who have produced some exciting work over the past year was held in November 2005, aboard the HMS President. People involved in design, arts, media, theatre, music, fashion, film, literature and the creative industries as a whole, made their way to see who won the CEN Magazine First Annual Awards. The purpose of the awards was to facilitate and bring together new talents
with established organisations in east London and to encourage and celebrate the diverse and innovative talents nurtured in the east. The awards ceremony was a successful event with over 700 attendees all enthusing about the diversity of east London’s arts community and the
inclusion as represented on that one night by the multicultural artists on board.

Awards were presented to:
Film - Simon Robson (presented and sponsored by VET)
Music - Fantazia (presented and sponsored by Rhythm Factory)
Fashion - MOTO-O (presented and sponsored by Mirrorstudios)
Design & Innovation - Junior Phipps (presented and sponsored by CIDA)
Visual Art - Hana Sakuma (presented and sponsored by Sevenseven Gallery)
Theatre - Cosh Omar (presented and sponsored by Theatre Royal Stratford East)

In addition, CEN Magazine also sponsors other arts related events such as the album launch of Jazzy Masala, an outing by Yousuf Ali Khan and Co. and the Barn B Open Studios exhibitions that were held as part of the Hertfordshire Open Studios 2005 and featured east London artists. On Valentine’s Day 2006, CEN Magazine teamed Redchurch Bar to bring ‘For The Love Of Music’, one night only opportunity for those eager to try their
hand at being a DJ.

DIVERSITY

This multicultural representation goes beyond the vast and comprehensive coverage within CEN Magazine, it is at the core of what we are and what we do. Our team is made up of visual artists, film makers, writers - poets and novelists, playwrights, photographers, journalists, musicians,
